Blog #7 - October 30th!!

Hello Everyone, This week I am writing about my experiences with Twitter, what I learned with the creation of my Web page, and Assistive and Adaptive technologies.   My experiences with Twitter so far have gone really well. The benefits of using Twitter include being able to see what so many others with the same interests as me are posting about and currently doing within the field of educational technology. It makes it simple to publish someone else's tweet, so your followers can see who you agree with. A benefit is being able to see quick updates on information, without having to go read whole articles. Instead, I can easily read the headlines, and then if I am interested I can go and research more about that specific topic. I have learned many things about educational technology using Twitter, and updates on things that are happening in the classroom. For example, last week I read about a teacher protest that was happening in Oklahoma! I have not experienced any problems ...

Hey everyone! Today I completed my Individual Learning Project, Participation, and completed a Lynda tutorial. This blog post will tell you what I learned and how I felt about the learning experience through Lynda. In Lynda, I watched the tutorial “New features in Gmail.” This taught me about the new features that Gmail would be offering in 2018. I learned how you can switch from new interphase and the classic phase, which is actually a very simple procedure if you are on a personal account. The new interphase will be permanent soon, but this tutorial helped my get a jump start on how to work the new interphase. I learned how to snooze an email, and so the email will only come up to the top of your inbox when it is relevant. You can snooze it until you have time to read it, without worrying about it getting lost in your other emails. You can also now preview your email without opening, so that you do not have to “read” an email if you do not have time to process the whole email. If t...

Hello, I visited an schools website this week, Belmont Academy Charter School, and viewed the first grade page under the teacher Christina Cully. On her pager, she has a biography to tell a little about herself, including her academic credentials, why she loves teaching and a little about herself. On her main page, there is guide to access all other pages, including a reference page, links, schedule, first grade weekly news, videos, posts, and a photo album. You can click on all these tabs and access these different pages. The reference page gives a guideline to where students are at on their reading level, where they should be, and what to do if they do not have access to internet. The links page contains different link that they evidently use in their classroom, like educational games. The schedule shows their everyday schedule in the classroom, for parents (and students) to know how their day and week will go. The first grade weekly news is visually pleasing and easy to read, and ...

Recently I have been using Diigo. I like how it is so easy to post and see different tools others found interesting. It is an amazing networking sight! It makes it so easy to highlight and take personal notes, without having to have a personal sheet of paper. I love that Diigo allows you to bookmark and save information, and makes it easy to stay organized. It does this by making it possible to search through all your bookmarks. My only complaint with Diigo is that I think initially it was confusing to work, and as visually cluttered. However, after use I realized it was not as hard as I thought. Blogging has been an experience for me so far. I like how blogging makes me recall what I did in my educational technology this class, and brings me back to how to do everything. I do not like how I feel as if my blogs are so structured, but I love being able to share with everyone what I am learning in my educational technology class! I have learned about the blogging process that it is in...
